Our Story
A Culinary Adventure and a Musical Journey
"We don't play nobody's music but our own" - Our unique sound comes from the mind of veteran musician, composer and producer 'Darkshark' and the high tech digital 'Tin Pan Tok Orchestra'.
With a distinctly Asian twist the music crosses borders, genres and time periods taking in Ancient China and Japan, Thailand, Elizabethan Tudor courts, Film Noir futures, Regency strings, the jazz and tango glamour of the 1920s-40s, the 'Wok 'n Roll' and Jump Jive era, J-Pop, K-Pop and hip-hop, pastoral classical and renaissance or evocative original song compositions and dances.
No commercial pop or chart hits here - our own soundtrack is bespoke, written and recorded specifically to be shared across three sister venues- Han, Taste Social and the soon-to-be Mariel's Bar - each with its own character, all drawing from the same body of original work. In Taste Social it's mixed to sit quietly under lunch and step forward a little on Friday and Saturday nights.
